A powerful technique to resonate and balance your chakras is to use vocal sounds. This is a good exercise to do every day, and is a great introduction to exploring the harmonics naturally present in vowels.

Vowels carry the “information energy” of speech, while consonants act to break the flow of energy. In ancient Sanskrit, Hebrew, Chinese, etc., vowel sounds are considered sacred. In other words, vowel sounds carry intention and focus.

Start by sitting comfortably in a chair or on a cushion on the floor. Try to keep your spine as straight as possible, allowing energy to flow through your body more freely; You can help yourself by imagining that your head is suspended from above by a thin cord, letting your body hang naturally below.

Make these sounds in a soft voice – don’t force it. Focus your energy and intention to balance and energize each chakra before intoning. To find the correct tuning for a particular chakra, scan up and down, feeling a resonance in your body (apart from the throat where it will always resonate). The tone will change according to the person, mood, diet, activities, emotional states, etc. on a daily basis. There is no established frequency.

Breathe deeply, expanding your lower belly as you inhale. You imagine the energy from each breath entering your body through whatever chakra you are working on, this can help you focus your consciousness. You can also add a visualization with the appropriate color for each chakra.

The first (root) chakra – located at the base of the spine. Intone seven times with the deepest “UUH”, as in “cup”, a very low guttural sound just riding gently on the breath. Stay comfortable with the sound – don’t force it. (Red).

Second chakra (Sacral) – located about 2-3 inches below the navel. Intone seven times a little higher, but still deep “OOO”, as in “you”. (Orange).

Third chakra (Solar Plexus) – located above the navel. Intone seven times using a higher “OH”, as in “go”. (Yellow).

Fourth chakra (heart) – located in the center of the chest. Intone seven times using a higher “AH”, as in “ma”. This is the sound that embodies compassion. (Green).

Fifth chakra (Throat) – Intone seven times using a higher “EYE”, as in “my”. (Blue).

Sixth chakra (Third Eye) – located in the middle of the forehead slightly above the eyes. Intone seven times, using an even higher “AYE,” as in “say.” (Indigo).

Seventh (Crown) – Intone seven times with the highest sound “EEE”, as in “mi”, you can do it comfortably. (Violet or white).

Now sit in a space of silence and receptivity for 10 to 20 minutes to experience the energy. After this if you feel a tone too light like an “aaaah” to bring the energy back to the heart, then an “ooooh” to bring the energy down to the sacral to be more grounded.

I hope that toning each chakra is an easy experience for you.
